Wishing Well

May 6, 2010
Some of our members have today relocated Round Table Gibraltar's stunning wishing well within the Cruise Liner Terminal. The monumental structure, made from stone, glass and metal, was until today located close to the exit point of the terminal for arriving passengers. Not only was it not in a prominent position, but by the very nature of its location visitors would at that stage be keen to keep of their loose change as they would be at the start of a spending spree on the Rock.

We have now moved the structure to the departure lounge, past the customs and security x-ray posts. Passengers will at this stage have no use for local currency, will have just dropped their coins into one of those annoying little x-ray machine trays, and will hopefully be tempted to drop their metal into our collection box before re-boarding their cruise ship.

We will hopefully be in a position to re-post news on the success of this strategic move!

Hasta la pasta.

Pinar del Rey Outing

April 29, 2010

Our next social event is a "campo outing" - a day at the countryside for the non-Spanish speakers out there - in a relatively unspoilt pine forest in San Roque, Spain. Yes it's the Pinar del Rey. I say relatively unspoilt as rumour has it a road is being built which encroaches on the Pinar.
This is a family event and is not one to be missed with special surprise activities for all.

When: Sat 8th May
Where: Pinar del Rey
Meeting Point: 10am on Spanish side of border.
How to get there for those ar...

New Picture Galleries

April 23, 2010

I have updated the picture galleries on the site. I was not too happy with the slideshows I had put up and have been searching high and low for a solution. Low and behold it was staring me in the face. Visit cooliris.com and you will see what a fantastic way this is of viewing images on the web. What I hadn't realised is that it also allowed me to create galleries, in their own inimatable style, on the website.

Cooliris allows us to view our photos of different events on a virtual wall. Click ...

Guest Speaker: John Harrison

April 21, 2010

When: Tuesday 27th at 8.30pm sharp
Where: IPA Club
Dress code: Smart Casual (no jeans)

John Harrison, Gibraltar's global adventurer will be addressing Round Table Gibraltar on his recent experiences. This is a special event as John was once a tabler himself.

To quote our secretary, “we are not talking about a trek por Grasalema Park!!!! Minus 1538 celcius and one or two man eating polar bears is more likely on the cards.”

This is one not to miss.

Spoiler alert!: For those of you who...

As previously reported, the first community event of the year is on Saturday 24th April when we will be taking some of Mount Alvernia's residents out for lunch to Latinos in Casemates. We need to assist in getting the residents from their vehicle to Latinos and generally thereafter during lunch and bingo. The meeting point is the old parcel post office in Line Wall Road at 11:45am to help take the residents to the restaurant.
