Xmas Update

December 10, 2010

It has been a busy period since the end of the summer recess. We have hosted numerous events, and are also planning more to come.

September saw a successful Bollywood night at the Queensway Quay Maharaja restaurant.

October saw a well attended Charter Weekend in Seville, and paintballing in Guadiaro which as always was great fun.

November saw our popular Santa’s Grotto at the Convent Christmas Fair. Many will be surprised to learn that we do this as a service to the community and that presents are sold at the same price at which they are sourced. Our elves on the day had to re-stock twice within the session given the high demand – no doubt brought about by our new location on the ground floor bordering the central courtyard.

December has been very busy with a special dinner on the 2nd when we had Governor of Gibraltar Vice Admiral Sir Adrian James Johns KCB, CBE, ADC. The dinner was a huge success and all at Round Table were extremely grateful to His Excellency for his time.

On the 4th we had our annual Santa Pull charity fundraiser where we pull a cart upon which Santa sits. We will be posting a separate entry about this soon thanking all our sponsors.

But for now best wishes to all for the festive season and for a prosperous new year.

We're Back!

September 14, 2010
Summer is over and we're back in action for the remainder of the tabling year.

We have a few social events in the pipeline, but more importantly, we are planning a number of charitable fund-raising events - both the usual and some new. Watch this space for updates.

Remember, you can donate directly to our charitable fund all year round by clicking on the Donate button at the bottom of our home page.

Be good!

Summertime

June 29, 2010
It's summer, it's hot and well, we take a break from meetings as most of us will be on holiday at some point.

There are a couple of events though. The first is the Lunar Walk (see separate post in this site) and the other one is a tapas run in neighbouring Spain to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of our youngest member!

So for now ...

Enjoy your summer!

Brilliant Business Meeting - 11/05/10

May 12, 2010
Last night was an evening of revelations. Norbert Montado was outed as a confused fan of El Diario De Patricia and the snake in Harry Potter, KK's wet dream was stopped in his tracks, James was exposed as an analytical eroticist, Guy as a dog lover and Chichi as a camper. Sounds like a nightmare but in reality it was a brilliant experience. Our surprise guest was Levi Attias our own Derren Brown.

After a series of breathtaking acts, and a well deserved standing ovation, Levi joined us for dinn...

Pinar Del Rey Outing

May 9, 2010
This past weekend's "campo outing" was enjoyed by all, particularly the children (this includes Jimmy).

There was food aplenty which meant we also had bbq'd high tea - very nice!

The kids received some cricket tuition from Kailash which left him stumped as the kids preferred playing with bubbles and whistling balloons - who can blame them!

Some pics here.

We are now to field a team of 3. Keep your eye on this blog for confirmation of our team.

Business Meeting: 11th May

May 6, 2010
Our next business meeting is on Tuesday 11th May at the Casino Calpe @ 8.30pm. Dress code continues to be smart casual (i.e. no jeans and no polos). The President has secured the attendance of a "surprise" guest who will entertain us for dinner. Not one to be missed - just realised that that must be the most overused phrase in this news blog. Well, it's going to be good.

Wishing Well

May 6, 2010
Some of our members have today relocated Round Table Gibraltar's stunning wishing well within the Cruise Liner Terminal. The monumental structure, made from stone, glass and metal, was until today located close to the exit point of the terminal for arriving passengers. Not only was it not in a prominent position, but by the very nature of its location visitors would at that stage be keen to keep of their loose change as they would be at the start of a spending spree on the Rock.

We have now mo...

Pinar del Rey Outing

April 29, 2010

Our next social event is a "campo outing" - a day at the countryside for the non-Spanish speakers out there - in a relatively unspoilt pine forest in San Roque, Spain. Yes it's the Pinar del Rey. I say relatively unspoilt as rumour has it a road is being built which encroaches on the Pinar.
This is a family event and is not one to be missed with special surprise activities for all.

When: Sat 8th May
Where: Pinar del Rey
Meeting Point: 10am on Spanish side of border.
How to get there for those ar...
